Central Kalahari Game Reserve

One of the most popular tourist attractions in all of South Africa is the central Kalahari game reserve. It is a wide expanse of grassy lands where many different wild animals inhabit it, including brown hyenas, lions, leopards, giraffes, kudu, and many more. The entirety of the land is for the most part flat and covered with the bush and grass that have characterized it as being one of the worlds most beautiful and largest game reserves. In 2008 this game reserve was hit by an extremely large and out of control fire which destroyed large portions of it.

Despite this fact, it still remains a very popular attraction for those who come to visit the area. With over 52,000 km of land it is the second largest game reserve in the entire world. There are unique species of animals that roam the land and the ever present danger of poachers which the reserve aims to reduce as much as possible with its large enclosure. The bushmen have occupied this land for thousands of years, and continue to do so, despite the attempted relocation by the Botswanan government.

Hunting and safaris are a very common attraction in this area of the continent as well. If you are interested in participating in such activities, you will be glad to know that it is one of the best big-game hunting spots in all the world. To hunt there takes true skill and cunning. It is an area devoid of permanent water sources and truly a harsh environment everything considered. Every year thousands of people from all over the world come to visit, hunting, sight-seeing, and going on safaris. If you too are interested, you should look up travel and tourist information that will give you a better understanding of the entire area.
